The Learning School Staff (Our strength - Our Team Members)

At the core of every good educational institution are the teachers for whom a continuing enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge is second only to a passion for disseminating it. At The Learning School, professional qualifications, personal integrity, and dedication are the overriding criteria for selecting teachers; meticulous care is taken to ensure that only the best are appointed.

Co-curricular skills are also considered, particularly those that will contribute to the atmosphere for vitality and creativity, which is one of the school’s hallmarks.

A Master’s degree is a minimum prerequisite for an appointment as a teacher.

High on the priority list at The Learning School is the continuing professional development of the teaching staff, providing the needed stimulus for constant improvement of teaching techniques and curriculum content.

" I have been following the development of The Learning School (TLS) since its inception. The way it has developed in such a short period is amazing. The commitment of the Kot Radha Kishan residents is unconventional. This wouldn't have been possible without the unconditional support and commitment of TLS Trustees especially Dr. Noor and Anwarji.

The level The Learning School has reached one can undoubtedly say that students of TLS will be the successful members of the national and international community.

TLS is a inspiration for me to take forward my personal initiative 'Adharshila' ( Adharshila wouldn't have been possible without the inspiration and support of TLS and Anwar ji.

I feel proud to be part of TLS.

I wish all the success to TLS Trustees and its Teachers. "

Staff Developments

The Learning School arranged a Training Workshop for sixteen staff members on ‘Working together to Build a Community of Responsive Educators’ at Dev Samaj College of Education, Chandigarh (India).  This workshop was from 5th May to 14th May 2006.

It was a successful visit as the delegates were able to meet many influential personalities that, includes Shri I. K. Gujral (former Indian Prime Minister), Ms. Suman Krishan Kant (wife of former Vice President of India, Shri Krishan Kant), Mrs. Kant’s Mother, who was 102 year old (as both of the ladies worked on the social sector), and Prof. K.N. Pathak, Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University, Chandigarh.

During the visit to India, the delegates also got an opportunity to visit several good schools in Delhi and Chandigarh and get new ideas, which were later implemented at The Learning School.

The team visited classrooms and met children who were happy to have Pakistani teachers.  The group invited these schools for the promotion of peace between both of the countries with the slogan “Aao Dosti Karain” (let’s make friendship) and requested a teacher exchange program.  The schools accepted their offer immediately, and the administration of TLS now plans to invite them to their campus soon.

The Delegate visited the following schools during their stay in India:-

  • Balvantary Mehta Vidya Bhawan Anguridevi Shersingh Memorial Academy, New Delhi, was established by Servants of the People Society as more than  2500 students studied and integrated special children into the classrooms with normal children.
  • Vivek High School, Chandigarh - (about 2,000 students) - Teaching through Critical thinking.
  • St. John High School, Chandigarh, claim the Boys Best School in Chandigarh where about 2,000 children were studying with a new “Learning Centre” concept for mentally disturbed children were taken care of and then put into regular classes.
  • Small Wonder School, Chandigarh- established in 2003 for primary grade children with many beautiful ideas.  It was a wonderful experience for the teachers because The Learning School also wanted to start a school for the younger children in the following year.
  • KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School (Sector-7), Chandigarh - About 2,500 students - An excellent school with the latest laboratories.  The teachers came one step ahead towards designing and using better laboratories for students.

The staff of The Learning School is grateful to the administration, faculty, and staff of all of the above schools for providing them a warm welcome during their visit.

More than ten newspapers and two news channels covered this visit.  Thus, the event turned out to be a successful one.  It helped promote peace in the subcontinent and helped TLS improve high-quality education.

Democratic norms at TLS

Empowering Education: Fostering Teamwork and Self-Responsibility through Collaboration and Recognition Across All Roles

Students at our school are organized into four houses: Iqbal House, Jinnah House, Fatima House, and Ayesha House. These houses form the backbone of our student community, guiding all activities and evaluations. Additionally, our administrative structure is divided linearly and horizontally into three sections: Junior Section, Middle Section, and High Section, streamlining operations and fostering a sense of belonging within each class.
Competition among houses is woven into the fabric of our school culture, extending from morning assemblies to academic pursuits. Every aspect, from discipline and classroom tidiness to sports and scholastic achievement, contributes to house rivalry. Individual and collective efforts directly impact house scores, emphasizing the importance of accountability and mutual support among students.
To cultivate leadership and democracy, we've established a student administration system. Students achieving a minimum of 70% marks are eligible to apply for class positions, while higher roles require applications from the most senior students meeting the same criteria.
Our commitment to excellence extends beyond student involvement. Teachers, administrative staff, Ayas, guards, and drivers undergo thorough evaluations using specific criteria, influencing potential pay rises alongside regular increments.
Transparent evaluation processes ensure fairness. Section heads complete evaluation forms, which teachers then review and sign. Dissatisfied individuals can appeal to the Principal, engaging in a reasoned dialogue supported by evidence. Further recourse is available through the Trust (KDT) via a formal written appeal endorsed by the Principal.
Each year, outstanding contributions are recognized through awards. The Best Teacher, Best Administrative Staff, Best Ayas, Best Driver, and Best Guard of each section receive honorary shields, celebrating their dedication and service to our school community.
